The CLA is manufactured in the USA at Ross' facility in Montrose, CO. As is true with Ross' most recent product introductions, the CLA is a large arbor series of reels that has variable widths across the full series of sizes to maximize the benefits of large arbor technology.
The CLA series carries the name of one of Ross' oldest, and most popular series, however the CLA is a departure from the original Cimarron design. It incorporates Ross' newest generation drag mechanism that is incredibly smooth, heat resistant and provides a level of stopping power not typically found in a moderately priced fly reel. Because the Cimarron series has provided anglers with flawless performance for more than two decades, the bar was set incredibly high for any new product introduced at a similar price. They have answered the call by introducing a series that matches the Cimarron in durability and affordable price, but offers a stronger drag, more pleasant sound, large arbor configuration, innovative conversion mechanism and additional features that anglers have come to expect with modern fly reel design.
Guides and hardcore anglers alike will appreciate the series' incredible durability, reliable performance and sensitive drag. The CLA sets a new standard for what anglers should expect from an American made, high-quality, reasonably priced reel.

Retrieve Information
If you cast with your right hand and retrieve with your left hand then you want Left Hand Retrieve.
If you cast with your left hand and retrieve with your right hand then you want Right Hand Retrieve.
Note: Some prefer to use the same hand for casting and retrieving by setting the hook before switching the rod to the opposite hand. This is perfectly acceptable. The important thing is that you retrieve with the hand with which you are most comfortable (fastest retrieve).
Backing Material Information
We will put 20# test Dacron backing material by 3M-Scientific Anglers on to your reel.
Be sure to select your retrieve (see above).
Standard Backing is built with advanced 3M technology that allows 3M to create small diameter backing without losing the inherent strength of the backing material.
Features:
Exceptionally thin material for more reel capacity
Low coefficient of friction minimizes wear on guides
High abrasion resistance
Colorfast
Extremely high visibility

WindCutter® Interchangeable Tips Spey Line
more info
This line is the same profile and taper as the WindCutter spey line, but with two floating and five sinking tips for a multi-purpose, multi-application spey line.
The complete design includes the shooting line and body with stiff, non-hinging loops, a 15 ft middle tip section with two loops (Tip 2), and a 15 ft front floating tip (Tip 1) for light fly presentation.
The 15 ft tapered sinking tips included are a clear AquaLux Intermediate Tip (1.5 ips 3.7 cm/s), a Type 3 (3 ips 7.62 cm/s) Density Compensated Tip, a Type 6 (6 ips 15.2 cm/s) Density Compensated Tip and a Type 8 (8 ips 20.3 cm/s) Density Compensated Tip.
Also included is the new Sink Tip Compensator Tip, an Intermediate Tip 2. Simply replace the Floating Tip 2 with this new tip when fishing the 15 ft sink tips to get better depth control.
The line also includes a shooting head wallet to store tips.

Great abrasion resistance
The world's only IGFA Class tippet in knotless leader
Thick butt to turnover big flies and counter in wind conditions
High knot and tensile strength
Light gray color is the most neutral and integrates visually with any background for the perfect camouflage
RIO knotless leaders have a high tech "best maximum pull" ratio to orient the molecules in a linear chain. This means that RIO's leaders return to their original taper after a fight
RIO Fluorocarbon Leaders
When stealth and accurate presentations are required for wary fish, the RIO Fluoroflex Knotless Tapered Leader is the leader of choice. The leaders are nearly invisible and feature superb knot strength, and abrasion resistance. In the tradition of RIO, the leader tapers are designed and extruded to exacting tolerances. Since Fluorocarbon is denser than nylon, the Fluorflex leaders will sink faster than traditional nylon leaders.
These leaders are a good choice for fishing chironomids and emergers in lakes.
