Leader shy fish are the hardest to catch. Fluorocarbon reflects less light so the fish can't see your tippet. If I'm fishing Saltwater, you can bet I'm using Fluorocarbon. It practically disappears in the water, and when a frantic Bonefish drags it across coral, it will shred long before it breaks. Even if I'm fishing a tapered mono leader, I always add 3 feet or so of Rio fluorocarbon to the end.
