"I am one of a select group of guides, on the New River in West Virginia, specializing in guided fishing trips. The New River is known mostly for its exciting class I thru class VI whitewater, but hidden and protected by this turbulent water is some of the best river smallmouth fishing in the east. Only companies and guides that hold whitewater certification can float, and fish, n the 9 mile section of the New River Gorge. At New River Adventures we offer half and full day excursions on the New River.
In addition, South Central West Virginia is home to many streams where native brook trout share water with stocked browns and bows. We can customize a trip to your specific fishing needs, whether you prefer a float fishing trip in the beautiful New River Gorge or a guided walk-in.
We are primarily a Whitewater outfitter and our brochure and web site (www.gauley.com) is dedicated to this. Quietly, myself and a small staff of very experienced guides have been building a clientele of satisfied guests (fly & spin tackle alike). We take advantage of our ability to get into a nearly inaccessible gorge and fish for fish who rarely see a hook.
Trips run $160 per person for a full day trip. Included are transportation to and from the water, guide service, and a deli style, riverside lunch. The rafts are high performance Wing or Avon 14' rafts with room for two fishermen and a guide.
